Murica' Day
Alright, clan. Dad here, reporting for duty.
Just a quick check-in from the home front: confirming the grill is officially at optimal searing temperature, the beverages are chilled to perfection (don't even think about touching my last sparkling water), and I’ve already conducted my annual safety briefing on keeping all fingers and toes firmly attached and away from anything that sparks, sizzles, or flies. You’re welcome.
But beyond the delicious aroma of charred meat and the increasingly distant bangs of fireworks, let's take a quick timeout. While we're all here celebrating the independence and birth of democracy – which, by the way, means you can't argue about my choice of patriotic rock anthems – take a moment to truly cherish what all that freedom brings. It's not just about the right to wear mismatched socks or have strong opinions on the best hot dog toppings. It's the bedrock that lets us gather as family, share love, forge new memories, strengthen our bonding, and enjoy countless small things we often take for granted. Things that others across the globe might still be just wishing for – today and every day. So, let’s be thankful for the good stuff, big and small.
America certainly has provided a bastion of greatness for many to rise, and to fall (usually over a stray sprinkler head), and then to rise again, from. It's a place where you can chase a dream, start a business, or simply enjoy a quiet afternoon nap after too many potato salad servings. Dad hopes you all find your greatness in the memories made this 4th of July with family, friends, and the many faces we run into at random. Make it a great day – make it a safe day. And remember, if you need anything, I'll be monitoring the grill... very, very closely.
Now, go forth, celebrate responsibly, and try not to ignite anything that isn't supposed to be on fire. Unless it's an epic burp after that third hot dog. That's fine.
Dad out. (Seriously, I'm off to claim the comfiest lawn chair before someone else does.)
